This post was inspired by current events but has personal meaning. As parents and caregivers, the thought of our children being hurt in these ways is unbearable. But no matter how painful it is, you are the safe place for them and it’s up to you to clarify the situation in a way they understand. You must be their first advocate and get them the help they deserve. Contacting RAINN at rainn.org is the first step.
Parents and caregivers provide a foundation for recovery. They show the young person they are not alone and foster their self-worth as they move forward through a challenging time. I believe parents and caregivers provide critical role models, showing young people how precious they are to those around them.
