Quick Guide To Getting Your WordPress Site Up and Running

The first 5 steps of a WordPress website. These will establish your foundation.

  1. Purchase a domain name
  2. Buy hosting for your domain. There are lots of good choices: Bluehost, SiteGround and WP-Engine if you are serious about speed and SEO
  3. Connect your domain name and hosting. Ask your hosting company for the Name Servers or DNS for your site. Insert the given Name Servers info into your domain name registrar account. Most domain registrars or hosting companies will help you with this. Some companies have a very simple way of accomplishing this without having to go to deep into the process.
  4. Install WordPress (and perhaps the Genesis Framework like on this site). All hosting companies have a slightly different procedure when installing WordPress. Many hosting companies offer easy ways to install WordPress by pushing a button and answering a few questions.
